Let’s go see native gardens together!

The Gardens Gone Native tour is a free garden tour featuring thirty plus California native plant home and school gardens in the Sacramento region. Gardens are comprised predominantly of California native plants in the urban landscape. The tour is organized by the Sacramento Chapter of CNPS.

These gardens highlight a variety of ways native plants can flourish in our home landscapes. Some are professionally designed; others are more functional, including a mix use of natives, food production, and living spaces. You will find delightful and sustainable gardens that harness water, create habitats, and add a sense of place. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask garden hosts about their choices and challenges.

Let’s get together as a chapter to and visit these beautiful native gardens!

Register for the free tour to receive email with map and info about gardens.

To carpool

Meet at 8:45 a.m. at either of these two locations. (Stand next to your car and look for Redbud folks.)

  • Colfax: Mar-Val’s Sierra Market, 575 S Auburn St. parking lot (Park on far right as you enter the lot.)
  • Auburn: CVS, 388 Elm Avenue parking lot (Park on far right as you enter the lot.)

Each carpool site is approximately 50 minutes from the gardens on tour. We’ll self-organize into carpools, including which gardens to visit and how long to do the tour. You might want to bring snacks/lunch, water, sunscreen, rain gear/windbreaker, hat.
