Past Field Trip: Bean Hollow State Beach, Monday, June 1, 2026

Dan Antonaccio hosted a stroll along the bluffs and beaches of Bean Hollow State Beach. They looked for coast- and dune-loving plants like varied lupine (Lupinus variicolor), sea thrift (Armeria maritima), Nuttall’s milkvetch (Astragalus nuttallii), Davy’s centaury (Zeltnera davyi), coast morning glory (Calystegia soldanella) and many more.

The hike was along a coastside bluff to a small beach with a seasonal creek and some sand dunes. Total mileage was less than 3 miles, mostly along level ground.
