Fire and Recovery

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the fires in Southern California. The losses, both immediate and those that will emerge in the days to come, are beyond words. In the midst of the devastation—the flames, smoke, and ash—it can be difficult to see the first signs of recovery. Yet, we believe in the resilience of this community and the seeds of renewal that lie dormant, waiting for their moment to grow. Together, we hold onto hope for a brighter tomorrow.
- CNPS has a fire recovery at https://www.cnps.org/give/priority-initiatives/fire-recovery. It addresses bio-region-specific care and is focused on wildlands and natural landscapes.
- The CNPS guide on fire-resilient homes (https://www.cnps.org/wildfire/best-practices) is top notch, and recommended for home owners, whether you are rebuilding or fire-hardening your home.
- Finally, Part 1 of a series called Living with Fire, offers a gardener’s perspective on the Camp Fire. https://www.cnps.org/life-with-plants/living-with-fire-part-1-a-personal-perspective-14505. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
