July 11, 2022: IN PERSON at George F Canyon, 6PM

Join us on July 11th in person (July 4th we will not meet in observance of Independence Day) for the first time since March, 2020!  Note the 6PM start time too!!

We’ll meet at George F (or Georgef, or Georgette, or George Eff, whichever floats your boat) Canyon Nature Center. Please RSVP to membership@SCCNPS.org so that we can get an estimate of the number of attendees in order to have enough pizza. We aren’t taking tickets, but it would be a shame to not have enough to have too much.

The Chapter will provide pizza and table wares but this isn’t quite a full potluck: Since we are still COVID-aware, please provide your own personal side dish(es) and personal drinks to have along with the pizza (to minimize possibilities of contamination / cross-contamination).

We’ll eat at the benches in the back of the Nature Center.  The Nature Center is the small building on the corner of PV Drive E and PV Drive N

The walk from the nature center drops down below the road and then proceeds up the canyon to another parking area. On some PVPLC hikes, this second parking lot is often where people think the meeting place is but it is about an eighth of a mile from the nature center.  On the trail, people can walk as far as they want and turn around, but about 3/4 mile up and there is a turn around spot where there are great views.
We’ll eat first, then go to the native garden, then the trail. This will allow people to go as far and fast on the trail as they like without the looming deadline of a meal at the end of the walk.
