CNPS San Gabriel Mountains Chapter – Mission
The mission of the CNPS San Gabriel Mountains (SGM) chapter is:
- To protect California’s native plants and their natural habitats through science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy
- To increase understanding of California’s native flora and to preserve this rich resource for future generations
CNPS SGM is a volunteer organization which depends on the dedication of our talented members. We are governed by an elected Board of Directors, each with a two year term. Chapter teams guide many of the activities and functions of the chapter.
Get involved! Help grow CNPS and support our mission to protect, conserve and enjoy California’s native plants and their habitats. Assisting with a team is a great way to get started. You can help as much or as little as you wish and your time allows. Volunteering may be a single task or an ongoing commitment. We are effective because of volunteers like you. Volunteer with us!
How to Get Involved
General Program Meetings
General program meetings are held at 7:30 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month (with the possible exceptions of July, August, November, and December). Meetings are held locally and via Zoom (when possible).
See our SGM Events Calendar for upcoming program meetings.
Field Trips
Throughout the year, we offer field trips and outings to hike and explore the native plants in local natural areas. Field trips are open to both members and non-members. See SGM Events for details on upcoming field trips.
Stewardship/Conservation/Volunteer
CNPS SGM has regular opportunities for stewardship including habitat restoration. See SGM Conservation for details and Events for calendar.
