Annual Slideshow, Art Show, and Potluck

It’s almost time for San Gabriel Chapter of the California Native Plant Society annual potluck where we celebrate both our wonderful native flora and the photographic and artistic talents of our members!  This year the event will be held Thursday, September 24, at the Arcadia Community Regional Park with the Potluck starting at 6:30 p.m. and the Photo and Art Presentation at 7:30 p.m. (in person and by Zoom). Please submit your photos and artworks for sharing.

Guests are welcome!  You do not need to be a member to attend.

For native plant photos, please submit your favorites from the hiking trail, traveling, or in the garden; we all want to share in your discoveries! Include the following information: common and/or botanical names (if unknown, no worries, those attending can help identify them) and the location where you saw them. Submit your photos by Sunday, September 20 as detailed below.

For original artwork inspired by nature (especially California native plants), please bring your art pieces to the potluck at 6:30 p.m. for in-person display AND also submit photos of your artwork, with a caption or description, to be compiled into the virtual presentation. Instructions for submitting your work:

• Select up to ten of your favorite native plant photographs or photos of original artwork.
• Use a 16:9 aspect ratio. Image files should be JPG, PNG, or TIF format, preferably at full resolution. Or, if you prefer, you can create your own PowerPoint or OpenOffice presentation at 16:9 aspect ratio.

To submit digital picture files you can:

• Upload your photos to our Show and Tell Submissions folder HERE.
• Share a DropBox or OneDrive folder at sgm.images@cnps.org.
• Email a link to your preferred photo website from where your file can be downloaded to sgm.images@cnps.org.

Note: also begin collecting seeds from your garden!  This year, in addition to native plant photos and art, members can bring seeds, identified and clearly labeled, from their native plant garden to share with fellow gardeners. (These are not intended for the wild.)  Seed bags will be available to assist with sharing.
