Plant Walk at Sycamore Canyon Trail, Puente Hills

Join us as we meander through the Puente Hills Sycamore Canyon exploring and learning about the flora and ecosystems.

Description: CNPS San Gabriel Mountains Chapter invites you on a nature hike in the canyons of Puente Hills. The Sycamore Canyon Trail is an easy hike along a dirt trail. We will travel about a half mile and return to parking lot (total length ~1 mile).
We will visit coastal sage scrub intermixed with riparian habitats; the trail follows a stream bed. Cris will discuss the plants in bloom and also discuss the ecosystems as we pass through the different areas of the canyon. Note: there is poison oak along trail.
Since there are also significant invasive plants, we will discuss the impacts of non-native plants on the native ecosystem. The hike is open to all, members and non-members.
Parking: street parking and small parking lot (11 spaces)
Toilets: There is a portable toilet in parking lot.

Bring: water and sun protection; Long pants are recommended to protect from poison oak.
