Natural Habitat Care at Santa Fe Dam
Please join us for on for one, or both, of the August habitat care sessions at Santa Fe Dam. Your help removing invasive plants preserves a biodiverse and rare, alluvial sage scrub habitat, home to the cactus wren among an abundance of other life. While our goal is to clear out invasive plants, we also share native plant knowledge, learn about invasive species and best practices for control, and enjoy the seasonal wonders of the landscape. Your volunteering efforts assist CNPS-SGM and Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation in maintaining the ecological and educational value of the Santa Fe Dam Natural Area (see the CNPS-SGM website for more information about this project).

Location: Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, 15501 E. Arrow Highway, Baldwin Park/Irwindale, CA 91706.
Note: We will cancel if excessive heat is predicted and we supply tools, gloves, and snacks.

The habitat care crew for our July session where they filled 12 bags with mostly invasive short pod mustard, laden with seeds. A very rough estimate is that a million seeds were removed from the landscape!
