CNPS San Gabriel Mountains Chapter
The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is a statewide non-profit organization of amateurs and professionals with a common interest in California’s native plants. The Society seeks to increase understanding of California’s native flora and to preserve this rich resource for future generations. Membership is open to all. Our members have diverse interests including natural history, botany, ecology, conservation, photography, drawing, hiking, and gardening. We are nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3), donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
The San Gabriel Mountains (SGM) Chapter is one of 36 CNPS chapters throughout California and Baja California. Ours is one of three chapters in Los Angeles County as shown in the CNPS Chapter Map Most CNPS activities are organized at the chapter level where the various interests of individual members can be served, and where there are opportunities for individuals to be involved to the degree that suits them best. The activities of our chapter include:
- Monthly program meetings on native plant science, gardening, conservation, activism, and more
- Field trips to explore the diverse plant communities of the San Gabriel Mountains and Los Angeles County
- Educational outreach for children and adults
- Plant sales
- Local conservation projects
The CNPS has more than 12,000 CNPS members in the state. Our chapter has more than 600 members.
