Celebrating Newly Elected CNPS Fellows Gabi and Cliff McLean!

The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is delighted to announce that Gabi and Cliff McLean have been promoted to Fellows of the California Native Plant Society, the highest honor the Society awards to a member. This award is typically given to an individual. Today a special couple are elevated together for their combined talents and dedication! 

Why this Honor Matters 

This special recognition is for persons who have made an outstanding contribution to furthering appreciation and conservation of California native flora and the success of the society. For 34 years, Gabi and Cliff have embodied the spirit of CNPS through education, advocacy, and community activism. Examples of their work include: 

• Leadership at state and local levels of the society 

• Creation of Nature at Hand, a native plant website specific to the San Gabriel Mountains 

• Engaging and educating the public through countless outreach events 

• Advocacy through articles, photographs and publications-elevating the importance of native habitats to people and governments 

• Conservation efforts throughout the San Gabriel Valley Including Santa Fe Dam Nature Area, Eaton Canyon Nature Area and many others 

• Developing YouTube Videos showcasing their native garden in Covina, inspiring viewers to garden with California natives 

A Legacy Rooted in Passion for Nature 

The San Gabriel Mountains Chapter is deeply proud to have this dynamic duo in our chapter. The award process shined a well-deserved spotlight on their many years of generosity, commitment and love for California native plants and habitats.
