Garden Design Basics with Brenda Spoelstra
October 18, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
In this presentation, Brenda Spoelstra will share the difference between landscape
architecture and planting design, and the considerations when choosing and planting in your own yards. Brenda’s passion is to connect people with the natural world. She will go into reasons for living within the plant environments, not just admiring nature from afar. She’ll discuss why AI is not the final designer, and why context is so important. She will present techniques and reasons for planning and designing, usually a year in advance of planting! You’ve heard many presentations about the ecological and environmental benefits of gardening with California native plants; this talk is about design and how to organize your landscape. Stay tuned!
