Presenter: Jameison Chilton
Date and time: Jan 27, 2022 6 p.m.
Desc.: For many, hearing of carnivorous plants calls to mind distant tropical environments. Jungles. Swamps. The sorts of environments one might not associate with the typically drought-prone, xeric ecosystems of California. But dotted throughout montane Northern California are small, specialized habitats containing our sole native carnivorous pitcher plant. The rare and protected Darlingtonia californica. Join us for an expert-led presentation on Darlingtonia growth habits throughout its range, its relationships with other organisms, and its environmental and human threats, historically and in the current time.
Bio: Jameison Chilton is a board member of the North American Sarracenia Conservancy. For the past seven years, he has been monitoring and researching Darlingtonia californica and its habitats.
