Redbud Trivia Night
Date: March 4th 2021
Time: 7pm
We are excited to invite one and all to test your plant knowledge at a Native Plant Trivia Night hosted by the Redbud Chapter of the California Native Plant Society! We will begin promptly at 7pm on March 4th.
The focus will be on the plants of the Redbud Chapter area which includes western Placer and Nevada Counties. We’ve come up with questions that don’t require a bunch of technical botanical knowledge. Pro-botanists may find it a bit too easy so give the beginners a chance to win. There will be prizes for the winners and for the best team name, so get your creative thinking caps on now! Here’s how it will work:
Please follow this link to register: https://cnps-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwvcOyopz4rHNV69MEsZpcM72V2mHenkq6b
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Registration will be required. You’ll also need to make sure you have the latest update of the Zoom application to participate. This part is very important because the breakout rooms will not work properly with old versions so be sure to check for updates in the days before the event.
Rally your friends to make teams of up to three people. You’ll choose a team name and we will send a link to everyone with the answer sheet. Please select one person to answer on behalf of your team. We will have two rounds, one with 10 questions and the other with 12, and a tie breaker question, for just in case. We will read the questions and send teams off to breakout rooms to discuss how they want to answer. You’ll populate your answer into the provided form and return to the main room. At the end of each round, you’ll submit the form.
In between rounds, our hosts will tally the results and you’ll be treated to a short presentation profiling some of the rare plants of Placer and Nevada Counties.
Then we will begin round two, which will have a different form to complete. You’ll enter the same team name and it will go much like the first round. We’ll use the same procedure of breakout rooms.
At the end of round 2 we’ll tally the final results and announce the winners! If you win, make sure to stick around so we can get contact information from you.
Even if you don’t feel particularly knowledgeable about native plants, we think you should attend! You may guess your way to winning or may win the prize for the best team name. If you have any questions, please message us! Hope to see you then!
