“The Role of Herbaria in Preserving California’s Unique Botanical Heritage (or What’s a Native Plant and How Do We Know Them When We See Them?)”
Presenter: Hannah Kang.
Virtual Event. 12pm noon November 7 2020
Hannah has been a plant biologist at the UC Davis Herbarium. Over 2000 of her photos of native plants appear in CalPhoto, an online database of natural history photos maintained by the University of California, many taken in Nevada and Placer counties. She will help us understand the ways in which herbaria are more important than ever in this era of climate change, and how they benefit us as lovers of native plants, even if we never consult them directly.
