Plant Walks Committee Meeting: Coordinator position help needed

Sunday October 25th, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
Location: Fieldwork Brewing Company 2400 Midway Dr., Santa Rosa (Formerly Cattleman’s restaurant, Montgomery Village)
Milo Baker Chapter members interested in Plant Walks are invited to a committee meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming year. I am looking for volunteers for leading a walk, planning one, or making contacts for locations and leaders. The Plant Walks committee is a small, informal group that creates outings for chapter members that are open to the public. We usually talk by phone, by email, or out in the field. I’d like to invite members who have not been active in planning outings but would like to be more involved. I am hoping to train a new Coordinator for Plant Walks starting next year, and I have a number of trips that are in the works. I am also willing to work with someone as a committee member or co-chair, to share the responsibilities.
We have had a very successful season of Plant Walks in 2026, with 12 outings so far and about 120 attendees. We learned new plants, saw beautiful wildflowers, learned some history and geology, walked with friends and met new ones, and even saw some whales. Our walks are a key feature of the CNPS mission of education and appreciation of our native flora. Getting out in the field to biodiverse parts of Sonoma County can help the conservation organizations that manage them and protect our local flora. Our members’ scientific expertise of native plants can inform the public and increase membership. Come help us plan some exciting plant walks for next year. Fieldwork in Montgomery Village offers craft beers and non-alcoholic beverages, pizza, wraps, appetizers, and salads.
