March 15 Plant Walk – A Wildflower Wander in Wonder with Dave Self

About 2.4 miles roundtrip; paved path exceeds 5% grade in some parts.

Join us on a family and ADA accessible plant walk through Sonoma Valley Regional Park with botanist David Self. Bring bright eyes and minds ready to spot the beauty of plants along the trail. We’ll ponder tiny details of flowers, leaves and seeds to puzzle out who might pollinate them, or carry their seeds to new spots, or eat them. All so you can find more wonder and puzzles to ponder with wildflowers wherever you wander.

Dave Self worked on habitat conservation and repair for over 50 years as a plant ecologist. At 73 he still delights in deciphering and sharing the ‘stories’ that flowers and plants ‘tell’ – if you look closely and observe thoughtfully.

We’ll meet in the parking lot of Sonoma Valley Regional Park off Highway 12. A parking fee of $8.00 is required if you do not have a Sonoma County Regional Parks pass. Carpools are encouraged. Wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and bring water and a sack lunch. Strollers are welcome; this plant walk is not for bicycles.
