Join our new invasive plant removal project along Windsor Creek!

When: Saturday January 17th, Friday, January 23 (see below for details)
Where: Windsor Creek between Los Amigos Rd., and Arata Lane in Windsor
Who: CNPS volunteers, you and other local volunteers
Why: French, Spanish and Scotch broom species are not native to California, and have become invasive, forming dense stands that exclude native plants. Broom species also increase fire hazard by increasing ladder fuels. Native plants are necessary for erosion control and to maintain California’s magnificent plant and animal biodiversity.

Details: Kick off event is Saturday Jan 17th 2026, 12:00pm at Windsor Library (9291 Old Redwood Highway) Windsor.
A presentation by Chloe Ballard, Sustainability Coordinator for the Town of Windsor. The first half of this workshop will focus on identifying and removing invasive plants that are fire fuel, and threaten native plants, finishing with learning how to replant the disturbed area with native species. The second half will be a prep session for anyone who would like to volunteer for our workday 2:00, January 17 along Windsor Creek.

2:00 pm: Gather at Windsor Senior Center (9231 Foxwood Drive) Windsor and then walk to the creek together to pull broom. We will be working until about 4 pm. You do not need to attend the 12:00 talk to help with the work

Please bring water, wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes if you would like to participate. There are some areas along the creek that have poison oak
