July Plant Walk – Pomo Canyon from Shell Beach

Pomo Canyon from Shell Beach
Meet at Shell Beach parking lot, south of Jenner on Highway 1 at 9:30 am. Carpool option: Meet at River Road Park and Ride at 8:30 am.
Join us for a 4 mile plant walk on the Pomo Canyon Trail to see coastal brush and grassland, through Douglas fir and Redwoods, wetlands, and up to a beautiful view of the ocean and Russian River watershed (weather permitting). We hope to see the lovely Coast Gentian (Gentiana affinis) and other late wildflowers and will see a variety of shrubs such as red flowering currant, twinberry, sticky monkey flower, coffee berry and coyote brush. We’ll have lunch on a rocky outcrop with a view, then head back to Shell Beach.
Wear sturdy shoes or boots, sun protection, and light colored clothing to help spot ticks. Bring plenty of water and your lunch.
