Monday May 15, 11:00-4:00. Leader: Botanist Peter Warner, hosted by Michelle Cooper
The Modini Preserve in the Mayacamas mountain range is a private nature sanctuary, owned and managed by Audubon Canyon Ranch. We’ll walk a total of 3-miles, out and back along the Redhill fire road, a maintained dirt road with moderate elevation gain. We will pass through several habitat types including serpentine chaparral, doug-fir/ madrone forest, knobcone pine forest, open grassland and the riparian corridor of Little Sulphur Creek. We will enjoy views of Alexander Valley and Mayacamas Mountains from over 2,000 feet elevation. Moderate walking at a botanical pace. This is steep wild country with no facilities.
