Plant sale volunteers needed

Plants for sale
Volunteers needed Friday, Oct. 27 to organize plant orders, 9:30 am.

Greetings.  Hope you are well and available to volunteer for our CNPS Chapter Fall Plant Sale.  This year the plant sale will be handled like last year with all orders done online and prepaid.  Our pickup date is on Sat. Oct. 28, 2023.  The plants will be delivered to us on Oct. 27, and we will need help organizing the individual orders on that Friday.  Our CNPS members and the public are invited to purchase plants via our online inventory which will be live Oct. 13-21 via links on our webpage & through an email blast.

The sale will be at the Tarzana Community Cultural Center, 19130 Ventura Blvd., on the corner of Ventura Blvd. & Vanalden near the 101 freeway. Please park either on Vanalden (south side of Vanalden has many parking spaces in the residential area) or on Ventura Blvd near the front gate in metered parking spots. There is a small parking lot behind the Tarzana Community Center however, we need that area for the truck which will be delivering plants that Friday morning.

We need help on Oct. 27 with inventorying the plants coming off the truck  and we especially need your assistance that day with organizing the plants into the individual orders for pickup.  This should be an all-hands event so we can get the task done in the morning before it gets hot.  This involves some stooping and lifting of gallon plants.  We expect to start these activities around 9:30 a.m. and end in early afternoon.

On Oct. 28, we need several people throughout the day to help load the plants into the vehicles of our buyers.  The pick-ups are timed so everyone does not show up at once. The pick-up hours are 9 am to 2:30 pm and we plan to be there as volunteers 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

The sale will be handled in the back parking lot of the venue.  We will have drinking water & snacks available and restrooms.  The venue has shade.  The venue also has a lovely mostly native demo garden.

Please let me know if you are available for either or both of the above dates.  Thanks for all your past support.  Regards Snowdy Dodson, Chapter Vice President
