Mt. Pinos Botany Hike recap
We had a great turnout of over twenty people for our Mt. Pinos botany hike on June 25th. The weather was superb and we enjoyed great views on top to Lockwood Valley, Carrizo Plain and beyond. We saw many plants (of course), the highlights being a beautiful meadow of Iris missouriensis (Western Blue Flag Iris), Fritillaria pinetorum (Pine Fritillary—rare), Gilia leptantha ssp. pinetorum (Pine Gilia (note: stamens and pistils exserted [protrude], rare), and Sarcodes sanguinea (Snow Plant). A complete list can be download here.
