The Central Sierra chapter has a dedicated board of elected and appointed leaders who serve a one year term. We come from science, education, government, industry, nonprofit and private sectors. Together, we work with a common commitment to speak for the native plants of the Sierra Nevada Foothills.

Shelly has lived and/or recreated in the Sierra Nevada for more than seven decades. She is Chapter Secretary, especially interested in the use of native plants and fungi as food, fiber, and medicine. Professionally she is active in government outreach at the federal and state level, working to retain and improve environmental laws and inform new legislation. Grand life goals are to see restored habitats, better and healthier food choices offered to the world community, less strife, and greater appreciation for the diversity of all things living. Her hobbies are gardening, fine cooking, botanizing, and active participation in the organizations to which she belongs. She is especially excited about the reengagement of the Central Sierra Chapter.

Letha has called the Sierra Nevada foothills home for 42 years. The rich biodiversity and native habitats of the region hold a special place for her. She is Chapter Treasurer and is also working in the area of Outreach & Engagement. Her focus is on building an open knowledge society, supporting cultural and biological diversity, building a sustainable lifestyle, and enjoying family, friends and community.

I've lived in California all but about four years of my life and in the Sierra Nevada foothills for about 40 years. I fell in love with these mountains and the plants that make a home here in 1985 when I had the opportunity to spend the summer helping with field research at a subalpine lake in Sequoia National Park. I spent most of my career in Yosemite National Park working on conservation-oriented studies and have been happily retired in Mariposa for seven years. I enjoy hiking and botanizing and joining the two whenever I can.

Tom is a lifelong Californian who grew up in Los Angeles and has a degree in Environmental Studies from San Francisco State University. He is Vegetation Field Specialist for CNPS and has spent his career working for land management agencies in California concentrating on botany and invasive plant management. Tom worked as a Biological Science Technician performing plant surveys throughout Yosemite National Park, ran an interagency vegetation program as a Natural Resource Specialist with Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and worked as the IPM Coordinator with Mid-peninsula Regional Open Space District.

Fran has lived in California since 2008 and comes from a family of educators and farmers. She lives in Tuolumne County and is fascinated by the local flora and fauna of the Sierra foothills. Fran is the chapter's Outreach & Membership Chair and enjoys working with the team to build engagement in our local communities. By day, Fran is a museum consultant and teaches on the Museum Studies program at San Francisco State University.
