Field Trip: Western Calaveras County Along the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail

Join this wonderful 5-mile round trip hike along the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail in western Calaveras county. Our target plant will be the Warrior’s Plume, but we may also see Padre’s Shooting Star, Lomatium and Blennosperma in bloom.

This is 5 miles round trip on generally well-graded trail through rolling terrain.  The trailhead is at about 700′ elevation. Lowest elevation is around 600′ and highest point is a little over 800′.  There is a 200′ climb over a 3/4 mile section on the return.  It may be muddy in places.  For people who hike regularly, it would be rated easy.

NOTE: Rain or lack of Warriors Plume in bloom will postpone the hike.  RSVPs are required.
