FIELD TRIP: Thompson Meadow (note date change!)

NOTE: The date for this hike has been moved forward to June 22nd (from the 29th)
because the orchids are beginning to bloom!

Join us on this one to two mile mostly level walk on a Forest Service dirt roads with some cross country walking across the meadow. Key species of interest are phantom orchids, other orchids including striped and spotted coralroot orchids, rattlesnake orchid, three Pyrola species and more. It’s an interesting area botanically at about 4500 feet.

Hiking Level: Moderately easy. Forest Service native surface road with some walking across the meadow.

Meeting Place and Time: 9:00 am. Meet in Tuolumne where we can arrange carpools. Meeting place in Tuolumne will be provided to those who RSVP. Thompson Meadow is 14 miles from Tuolumne on the paved Cottonwood Road. Less than 1/2 mile driving on a dirt surface road to parking place.
