FIELD TRIP: Natural Bridges Trail, Calaveras County

This two mile round-trip walk will take us down through oak woodland and chaparral to the limestone natural bridge over Coyote Creek, which leads into New Melones reservoir. We will investigate native flowers, shrubs and trees growing along the trail. If water levels and creek conditions allow, we’ll check out the cave, too, and plants of the riparian habitat along the creek.

Hiking Level: Moderate. Hike is not long, but the trail may be muddy, and there are some steep and/or slippery parts.

Reservation/Signup Required: RSVP to Louise Christy at christyldc@gmail.com . We need to know who is coming because plans may change due to weather and trail conditions.

Meeting Place: Natural Bridges Trailhead, just off Parrotts Ferry Road, near Vallecito CA. Limited parking is available at the trailhead.
