FIELD TRIP: Lake Winnemucca

Lake Winnemucca, Carson Pass Area, Amador County
Sunday, June 28 and Sunday, August 23, meeting at 9 a.m.
Field Trip Leader: Bob Dean at goldrushdean@yahoo.com
RSVP to: denise_stephens@comcast.net
Hiking Difficulty: Not a significant altitude gain but a long hike–2.4 miles one way–at high elevation- 9000 feet. The location is safe enough that someone not wanting to hike the entire distance can still enjoy the plant variety and return early to the parking area.
Brief Description : There are numerous habitats including forest, meadows, seeps and riparian areas. There is a significant succession of wildflowers at this altitude. An inspiring sub-alpine experience.
Meeting Place (describe location or directions to it) : Carson Pass Information Station Parking Lot, right off Highway 88. If there is not enough parking there, you can go downhill about ¼ mile and park in the Snow Park lot; and then you can walk uphill to the hike meeting place.
Meeting Time and estimated duration of field trip: Meet at 9 a.m. For the full round trip hikers should plan at least 4 hours.
