FIELD TRIP: Lake Tabeaud, Amador County Hike

Hiking Difficulty: Mostly flat and easy with 3 small uphills.  2.5 miles around the lake.

Description: Despite being “disturbed” land around this PG&E lake, native plant diversity continues there year-round.  For April we hope to experience Yellow-Star Tulip (Calochortus monophyllus), White Globe Lily, Showy Phlox, and Hartweg’s Iris.  This lake area shows off native plants that in quantity and at peak bloom are quite impressive.

Meeting Time and estimated duration of field trip: 10:00 a.m. for about 2-2.5 hours.  You can picnic next to the lake after the hike.

Meeting Place: Lake Tabeaud, first parking lot as you enter the area, off Lake Tabeaud Road, Amador County.  Note that the entrance into the area is poorly signed.  When you get to the point that Lake Tabeaud Road is marked as a one-lane road, you take an immediate right onto “Dam Road,” again, not well marked.
