FIELD TRIP: High Sierra Double Header – Leavitt Lake to the Pacific Crest Trail and Blue Canyon Lake

Once again this year we are offering a High Sierra Double Header and invite you to make it a weekend! High Sierra field trips ave sometimes been cancelled because of thunderstorms, and even with perfect weather, attendance is often light because it is a lot of driving from the foothills for a day trip. So, you can drive up on Thursday or Friday, get acclimated to the altitude, then join us for one or both weekend field trips.
We’ll seek to secure a campsite at Leavitt Lake down a rugged four wheel drive road off of Sonora Pass. RSVP in advance. We may be able to shuttle folks in from Hwy 108, if you come in a 2WD vehicle, but will need to arrange details in advance. We’ll stay there Friday and Saturday night, packing up camp Sunday morning and heading to the Blue Canyon Trailhead for Sunday’s field trip.
As always, at this elevation, afternoon thunderstorms are possible. We’ll pay close attention to the forecast leading up to the trip and adjust plans, if needed.
A full description of each day of this double header is listed in a separate event entry here. Trip leaders are David Campbell and Tom Reyes; please see their contact information in each day’s event entry.
