FIELD TRIP: Deer Creek (Twain Harte Area) <– CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH PROBABILITY OF RAIN

Field Trip Leader: Kathy Burnett

Hiking Difficulty: Moderate (rocky unstable footing at times). Approximately two miles hiking involved.

Description: Explore the Deer Creek area on Forest roads and off highway vehicle trails. Target species are Tuolumne Fawn Lily (Erythronium tuolumnense) and Pansy Monkeyflower (Diplacus pulchellus).

We will meet at 9 a.m. at the Twain Harte Market at the far end of the parking lot near the trees. Take the second Twain Harte exit off of Highway 108. From the Twain Harte Market we will drive north out of town on the South Fork Road, crossing the South Fork Stanislaus River and driving to the Deer Creek OHV Staging Area. Approximate driving time to the field trip site is one half hour with most of the driving on Forest Service dirt roads. Sedans not recommended. We can arrange carpools. We will get back to the market around 3 p.m.

Pets are not allowed on this field trip.
