FIELD TRIP: Carson Pass Meadow (recurring)

This will be a recurring FT on the third Sunday of each month starting in April and ending September. (Sundays, April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20)

Coordinator:  Denise Stephens, VP for Amador County, CNPS Central Sierra Chapter.  RSVP to denise_stephens@comcast.net. (RSVP required to assure information can be shared regarding conditions or cancellations, especially on early season hikes.)

Hiking Difficulty: relatively easy access to meadow with an elevation change of approximately 500 feet over ½ mile.

Description: Small isolated High Sierra meadow of about 10 acres with a remarkable succession of high Sierra wildflowers from both the west slope of the Sierras as well as the Great Basin.

Meeting location: snow park ¼ mile below the information station at Carson Pass. This is a left turn off Hwy. 88 below the Carson Pass summit.

Meeting time will be 11 a.m.  Allow 3 hours for the hike. Individuals may wish to extend their hike for additional exploration. The site is an easy hike out for anyone wanting to leave earlier than the group.
