FIELD TRIP: Carson Pass Meadow Hike

Description:  This is a small Sierra meadow with a tremendous variety of plants to observe. We will have multiple trips to the same location to be able to catch the variety of blooms which occur over summer. Within the meadow and adjoining lava field will be a variety of habitats which reflect the variety of plants to be seen.

Dates: May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21, October 19, 2025

Level: Moderate, due mostly to the elevation. The hike, though less than a mile, begins at 8,500 feet and ascends about 500 feet to the meadow. The hike itself will be relatively slow because there will be plenty of plants to see along the route.

Meeting location: Carson Pass Snow Park off Highway 88 at Carson Pass. The snow park is located just below the Carson Pass Information Center station (left turn approximately a quarter mile below the turn off for the center).
