Upcoming Events
Saturday, March 21 - Kaweah Oaks Preserve Field Trip
Kaweah Oaks Preserve (KOP) is home to some of Tulare County’s last remaining Valley Oak forests. These Oak lands used to grow abundantly on the alluvial plateaus (lands formed of soils washed out of the mountains) along our rivers- mainly the Kaweah and Tule Rivers. Walking through these tall majestic trees draped in grapevines gives us a sense of what was once here. In addition to the Valley Oak, KOP has an alkali meadow that contains two special species: Alkali Sacaton and Alkali Heliotrope. Join us and Land Steward Jonathan Vaughan for a fascinating look at this special place.
